Surgical Treatment of Pulmonary Sequestration

Abstract
|
|
|
the pulmonary sequestration is rare congenital anomaly of the lung and occasionally accompanied with other congenital malformation and characterized by the presence of nonfunctional lung tissue which has no communication with the normal bronchial
tree.
The significance of pulmonary sequestration is recurrent pulmonary infection and anomalous blood supply from systemic artery. We experienced 5 cases of pulmonary sequestration, 4 cases are intralobar type and l case is extralobar type. 3 cases
were
diagnosed preoperatively by aortography, 2 cases were diagnosed at the time of operation. All patients had surgical treatment-4 cases of lobectomy, and l ase of sequestrectomy. The l case of combined complication-empyema, and l case of combined
congenital anomalydiaphragmatic hernia were also treated, All patients had uneventful postoperative course.
